By using this method you can easily add new scale factors to get the best views for your drawings.Īfter I cover adding two new scales to your drawing I show you how to set your viewports scale using them easily and quickly. In todays video though I go over Viewport scaling, more specifically, how to add or remove scale factors from your scale list. Programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD and many more, allow you to draw. If not, be sure to check them out if your having any issues setting up your layouts/viewports for drawings. You can considering changing the scale of a drawing by a decimal factor or by. How to Create Multiple Viewports in a Layout If you’ve been following my videos for a while now you may have seen one of my other Videos on the topic like: In todays new video I go over what seems to be the most confusing area of AutoCAD for many people: Autocad Scaling and Viewports. Note: If you change a drawing's Units after you have already cataloged its assets, you must scale the drawing accordingly and recatalog the assets. That line was designed to be displayed in a drawing of 11, so at a scale of 48 it is pretty much too small to see. Use the table at the end of this topic to determine the scale factor to use. If you load a linetype into your drawing, you will notice it shows up pretty good in a base drawing, but what happens when you draw that line in a drawing that has a scale factor of 48.

The following procedure describes how to do this. If you receive a drawing created using a drawing unit that is different than the units you prefer to work with, you can add the drawing to the project and change its units to your preferred drawing units. For example, if you have a drawing with Imperial units, and the project uses Metric units, the drawings’ areas will always be stored in square meters (the project’s units), but the drawing will be shown in AutoCAD in inches (the drawing's unit - Imperial). This means that drawings with different units can exist in the same project. A drawing’s units are independent of the project's Base Units, the units used to store area and length values in the database. A drawing’s units can be either inches, millimeters, centimeters, or meters. The drawing's units determine how the drawing is displayed in AutoCAD. When you use ARCHIBUS Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD or the DWG Editor to create a new drawing, you specify the Units for the drawing as Imperial or Metric.
